I had not tested this famous Glenfarclas 105 yet, it’s now done! “Better late than never!” would some say, “Another Speyside?” Others will say… It’s not my fault if Speyside produces so many good whiskeys and if I can not follow eh! But back to our sheep, hum, rather to my glass. This cask strenght whisky, with a high degree of alcohol (60%… Well no, not 105, sorry eh), is presented as bringing together the aromas of all the Glenfarclas in a single glass… I tell myself that this is a lot for only one glass but we’ll see that! 😀
Nose: Essentially notes of oranges and spices. But also tobacco and a hint of pears. With some water, a caramel sweetness is added to everything else.
Mouth: On oranges and chocolate. Strong in the mouth, personally it is never ba problem for me but it is not appreciated by everyone, especially since it is sometimes difficult to detect all the aromas with such a degree of alcohol. The good news is that it supports wonderfully some water! Oranges are even more present, accompanied by pears but also plums. Definitely better with water!
Finish: Pleasantly long on oranges and chocolate.
Note: 85/100
A very nice sherry cask Speyside, ideal to enjoy with friends, those who like it hard will greatly get some pleasure with it and the others can add water for a nice fruity pleasure. This Glenfarclas 105 is available for about 40 € (or less if you are lucky), another bottle to reserve a place to in your bar without breaking the bank. Warmly recommended 😀
