Well, dear friends, here come the tasting notes of Glengoyne 15yo (43% – 2017). This whisky was partially aged in bourbon casks (1st fill) and in sherry casks. Glengoyne has forged its very good (and deserved) reputation, especially, with its older whiskies aged in sherry casks . These barrels are supposed to bring fruity aromas of candied lemon and pineapple, and the sherry casks to bring intensity and balance to the whole thing. That’s what they tell us on paper… But on paper it always looks pretty, so let’s see the reality with the tasting notes 😀
Nose: Fruity aromas, all freshness and lightness. We find, as promised, aromas of lemons but also oranges. A touch of vanilla and a hint of caramel, many thanks to the bourbon casks, are also felt.
Mouth: A mouth a little bit oily and greasy, something that I appreciate very much because this sensation in the mouth is very pleasant. We stay on lemons, the hints of oranges are a little more shy than with the nose. There are also notes of fresh walnuts.
Finish: Medium lenght, on vanilla and apples (i didn’t notice these apples before that).

For an average price of 50€, this Glengoyne 15yo has almost everything you’re looking for, its freshness and the sensation it offers in the mouth are very pleasant! Well, I have to admit that I still rather like his old brother of 25 years old aged in sherry casks, for its incredible complexity but… The price is not the same, and you’ll get a lot of pleasure with this one for a very good price :p
